Home drone detection

Hares.Vision turns a security camera that can see the sky, or a spare cellphone, into a drone detector. When a drone appears over your property, you get an alert on your cellphone, an alarm at home and a video clip of what flew by. Birds and planes don’t set it off.

A drone over your fence is easy to miss and hard to prove.

Camera drones are cheap, quiet and fly where fences and hedges don’t reach. Most of the time, nobody on the ground even notices.

It sees over every fence

A drone with a zoom camera can look into your property, your pool and your windows from a height where you would barely spot it.

You rarely notice it

Small drones are quiet, often fly at dusk and are gone in minutes. By the time you look up, there is nothing to see.

Hard to prove afterwards

Without a time‑stamped video, a report to the police or your HOA comes down to “I think I saw something.”

Scanner apps miss many drones

Remote ID apps only see drones that broadcast an ID. Many lightweight, older or modified drones never do. A camera sees them anyway.

The camera watches the sky. You get the alert.

No radar on the roof and no radio scanning. Just video and AI trained on thousands of hours of real drone footage.

Point a camera at the sky

Use an outdoor camera that already covers part of the sky, add one that does, or set a spare cellphone on a windowsill.

AI checks every frame

Hares.Vision spots anything in the air and works out what it is: drone, bird, helicopter or plane. Drones are recognized by type and size.

Cellphone showing a drone alert with a video clip

You hear about it in under a second

A push notification, a sound alarm or both, and a short video clip saved automatically.

Three ways to set it up.

Pick what fits your home, or combine them: a camera over the backyard and a cellphone facing the street.

Your existing security camera

If one of your outdoor cameras already sees a slice of sky, it can start detecting drones. Nothing new to mount.

  • Works with most IP cameras that offer a video stream (RTSP or ONVIF)

A spare cellphone or tablet

Put an old cellphone on a windowsill or a small tripod, facing the sky. The fastest way to try it tonight.

  • Detects drones in daylight and into dusk
  • Alerts go to your main cellphone and the whole family

Alerts the way you want them.

Choose who gets notified, how loud and when. Every detection is logged with the time, the camera and the drone type.

  • Push to every cellphone in the family

Everyone at home gets the same alert, with a snapshot of the drone.

  • Sound alarm at home

A loud signal on the cellphone or a speaker, so the kids come in from the yard right away.

  • A video clip of every drone

Saved automatically with date and time, ready to share with the police or your HOA.

  • Quiet hours and your own rules

Different settings per camera, per time of day, and for when you’re away.

Your video stays where you decide.

A privacy product shouldn’t create a new privacy problem. Choose where detection runs.

Private backyard with a pool at sunset

Locally, at home

Detection runs on your home network. Video never leaves the house, and only the alert goes to your cellphone.

In the cloud

Nothing to install or keep running at home. Connect your camera or cellphone and detection starts. Same AI, same accuracy.

Fewer false alarms. Real drones only.

The same detection engine is field‑tested by U.S. federal agencies, state police and international law enforcement. At home, that means you’re not woken up by a crow.

Every object in the sky is found and classified. Only drones trigger an alert. A bird is not a drone, and Hares.Vision knows the difference.

Detect, alert, record.

In the U.S., private citizens can’t legally jam, hack or shoot down a drone, even over their own property. Hares.Vision gives you what is legal and what actually helps: early warning and evidence.

What it does

  • Watches the sky over your property around the clock
  • Tells drones apart from birds, planes and helicopters
  • Alerts you on your cellphone and with a sound alarm
  • Records a clip and logs every drone event

What it doesn’t do

  • Jam radio signals or GPS
  • Take control of or bring down drones
  • Emit anything: it only watches video
  • Require permits or special hardware

For homes that value their privacy.

Families with kids

Know when someone is filming the backyard, the pool or the trampoline while your children play.

Private estates and public figures

Early warning against paparazzi drones and anyone mapping your property from above.

Rural properties and ranches

Wide open land, livestock and equipment, and neighbors far away. Cover the sky you can’t watch yourself.

Gated communities and HOAs

One shared system over the community: alerts to security staff and every resident who opts in.

Questions homeowners ask.

How does home drone detection work?
A security camera or cellphone that can see the sky sends video to Hares.Vision, running at home or in the cloud. The AI checks every frame, recognizes drones by type and size, ignores birds and planes, and alerts you in under a second with a video clip of the drone.
How can I tell if a drone is spying on my house?
Small camera drones are quiet and often fly at dusk, so most go unnoticed. The reliable way to know is to watch the sky continuously. Hares.Vision does that through a camera or cellphone that can see the sky and alerts you the moment a drone appears, with a video clip of the event.
What can I legally do about a drone over my property?
In the U.S., shooting down, jamming or hacking a drone is a federal offense, even over your own property. What you can do is document it and report it. Note the time and direction, keep video, and contact your local police. A time‑stamped Hares.Vision clip gives them something concrete to work with.
Will birds or planes set off alerts?
No. Hares.Vision recognizes birds, airplanes and helicopters as what they are and does not alert on them. Alerts fire only when a drone is in the frame.
Which cameras work with Hares.Vision?
Most outdoor IP cameras that offer a video stream (RTSP or ONVIF) and can see part of the sky. Some cloud‑only consumer cameras don’t provide an open stream; for those, a spare cellphone or one extra sky‑facing camera is the simpler route. Send us your camera brand and we’ll check.
Does it work at night?
On a cellphone, detection works in daylight and into dusk. After dark, results depend on the camera: night‑capable and IR cameras keep detecting, standard cameras see less.
Why not just use a free Remote ID app?
Remote ID apps only see drones that broadcast an ID signal. Many lightweight, older or modified drones don’t. Hares.Vision is optical: if the camera can see it, it can detect it, whether or not it broadcasts anything.
Is my video sent to the cloud?
Only if you choose the cloud option. Hares.Vision can run locally on your home network so your video never leaves the house, or in the cloud if you’d rather have nothing to install.
How much does it cost?
Hares.Vision for homes is a monthly subscription, with no hardware to buy from us. Book a demo and we’ll quote for your setup.
